Throughout history, people have always fasted, abstained from food, or simply eaten less whenever they felt their bodies needed it. Furthermore, the past didn’t have the abundance of ultra-processed and toxin-heavy foods that we face today. Modern life certainly brings its share of challenges, but you can master them—if you choose to.
To stay in balance and avoid various illnesses, it is advisable to “service” your body a few times a year, helping it cleanse on a cellular level. This doesn’t mean starving yourself for weeks on end; in fact, starvation isn’t even necessary for your system to get the chance to clear out the accumulated “junk”.
Instead, it means giving your body the opportunity to strengthen on a deeper level. It prepares you for various psycho-physical challenges, allows you to break old patterns, and empowers you to start taking better care of yourself.
Decoding Your Cellular Messages
“I can’t breathe. I’m exhausted. I don’t have the strength to produce energy. I’m nauseous, sick, poisoned, hungry, and thirsty.” If our cells could speak, their messages would sound like that, signaling that it is high time we take action and care for this body.
Cells communicate with us in a different language—through physical symptoms. These are signs that they are unhappy and are demanding better conditions to maintain vitality and health.
To support them, the following should become your daily essentials:
- A whole-food, plant-based diet (fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, sprouts, microgreens, and a moderate amount of seeds and nuts).
- Proper movement and pure water.
- Rest and quality sleep.
- Connection with nature.
- Breathing techniques and relaxation.
- Addressing internal patterns and emotional expression.
Once you truly begin to love yourself, a new world opens up. Your priorities shift. You will crave a more vital, healthy body; nothing will be taken for granted, and old attachments or dependencies will begin to fade. This is a journey that doesn’t end after a few weeks of detoxing—it is a path every woman walks herself, though professional support along the way is always a welcome advantage.
The first step is deciding to do something for yourself. From there, the paths vary: for some, the priority is exploring their inner world; for others, it’s easier to start with the physical body. Some choose to tackle everything at once.
Supporting the Body
Detoxification is essentially about providing the support needed to build a foundation so the body can eventually detoxify itself. This initial process can take a few weeks or longer, depending on your needs. Afterward, transitioning to a whole-food, alkaline, plant-based diet will help you fully regenerate.
Note: Intensive detoxing is best suited for warmer months (late spring, summer, and early autumn).
Your Daily Rituals
Take time for yourself every day. Start in peace, with gratitude and an openness to new experiences.
- Hydration: Upon waking (and after using the restroom), drink 0.5 liters of lukewarm water. You can add the juice of half or a whole lemon, and a teaspoon of fresh ginger and turmeric juice.
- The Green Flush: 15 minutes later, drink 0.5 liters of fresh vegetable juice or pure celery juice.
- Body Care: If time permits, try dry body brushing, a brief self-massage, and a Kneipp-style shower (alternating hot and cold water every 30 seconds for 3–4 minutes, always ending with cold).
- Oral Hygiene: Use a tongue scraper regularly before brushing your teeth. The coating on your tongue is a sign of toxins; the detox process is complete when the tongue remains naturally pink.
- Extra Support: Consider enemas (especially for constipation or headaches), Ayurvedic nasal cleaning (Neti), oiling the navel, moxa therapy, or castor oil packs.
- Movement: Gentle exercise before breakfast, such as Hormone Yoga.
Nourishment Throughout the Day
- Breakfast: Eat only if you are hungry. Stick to seasonal fruit mono-meals (one type of ripe fruit at a time) or a fruit smoothie with greens.
- Morning: Continue eating fruit until satisfied. Fruit digests quickly, so if you are hungry again after 2–3 hours, have more fruit or a fresh green juice (carrot base with leafy greens, ginger, turmeric, fennel, and lemon).
- Boosters: You can add spirulina, wheatgrass/barley grass powder, liquid chlorophyll, or freshly ground flax/chia seeds to your juices or smoothies.
- Lunch: Seasonal salads with plenty of leafy greens. You can add two extra vegetables (cabbage, cucumber, fennel, steamed broccoli, etc.) and half an avocado for healthy fats.
- Afternoon Snack: A plant-based protein smoothie (e.g., Sunwarrior Natural) with flax or chia seeds and water.
- Dinner: Fat-free vegetable soup. Sauté onions in water, add vegetables, and season at the end or creamy soup (pumpkin, pea, cauliflower) or steamed vegetables with seasoning are also an excellent choice.
Tip: If you feel overly hungry or experience strong detox symptoms (headaches, dizziness, fatigue), add some gluten-free grains (rice, quinoa, millet, buckwheat) to your lunch or dinner. This will slow the detox but make you feel much better.
What to Exclude During Detox
To truly activate autophagy—the body’s cellular “housecleaning” process—you must eliminate:
- All animal products (meat, dairy, fish, eggs).
- Processed foods and sugar in all forms.
- Bread, yeast, and alcohol.
- Coffee, peanuts, and corn.
- Gluten-containing grains (wheat, spelt, rye, barley, etc.).
For a deeper cellular detox, transition from a plant-based diet to a period of only juices and smoothies, eventually moving toward a water or herbal tea fast (Read warning).
WARNING: This should always be done under the guidance of a trained professional.
Targeted Support
- Low Blood Pressure: Add ginger, anise, licorice tea, or a pinch of guarana powder. Increase salt intake slightly and move slowly.
- Feeling Cold: If you don’t tolerate cold well, prioritize cooked foods over raw. Have your fruit in the morning, but stick to warm soups and stews for the rest of the day.
- Herbal Allies: Consider Triphala, Chlorella, Spirulina, Moringa, Curcumin, Guduchi, Guggul, Ashwagandha, Milk Thistle, and Aloe Vera.
Therapeutic Baths
- Salt Baths: Add 300–500g of sea or Himalayan salt to warm water (35–38°C). Add essential oils like tea tree, lavender, or rosemary. Soak for 20–30 minutes, then rest in a bathrobe for an hour.
- Foot Baths: Ideal for stimulating detoxification via reflexology points. Soak feet for 30–60 minutes in salt water or a mixture of clay (1 tbsp) and baking soda (2 tbsp).
- Alkaline Baths: Coat the body (except eyes/genitals) in glycerin for 15 minutes, then soak in a salt bath for 20 minutes while massaging the skin. Repeat 3–4 times. Glycerin helps deliver oxygen to the body, boosting the detox.
Mental, Emotional, and Environmental Hygiene
Detox is not just about what you eat. It involves:
- Environment: Use eco-friendly cleaners and cosmetics. Reduce electrosmog by turning off wireless devices at night and keeping electronics out of the bedroom.
- Mind: Practice silence, regular meditation, and emotional expression.
- Womb Energy: For women, reconnecting with the energy of the womb is essential—it is the center of our power and intuition.
